bought them for my carrera subway, didn't fit perfectly but a few cable ties and they were sturdy enough.

Although on the way to work last week i heard a rattling and a crack, look behind me and see cars going over my rear guard which snapped off.

So im now going for the chromoplastic ones in the hope that they are more sturdy

They done a good job for a few weeks though and seem decent quality

+1 for the chromoplastics.

I fitted the commuter guards to the missus' bike, and they're fine for that as she doesn't do that many miles. given that I ride every day, pretty much, I'd only fit chromoplastics to my bike - the guards and fittings are better quality, imo.

Thanks all for the comments - think i will take the plunge with the commuter sks's from wiggle - can't really justify £30 on mudguards on a £300 bike

I'd spend the extra £13.37 and get chromoplastics - will last much longer and will therefore work out cheaper long term!

I had sks chromoplastic mudguards and thought they were great... until the rear one snapped in half after about only 9 months use... commuting through London's crappy roads!

I did like them a lot and want to get a replacement but a little weary it might happen again.
