I've just brought an Eastway, lovely bike, but the mudguards I brought, rainblades, don't fit, theres not enough clearance under the brake bridge with 25mm tyres, the bike has the mudguard eyes for full mudguards but not the clearance. So I need a set of full mudguards that ether go over the brake bridge or has a gap where the back brake is.
Yes I know mudguards have been done before, I've just waded through pages of mudguard threads. So whats the opinion of the panel?

Fixed wheel fanatic.
Could you cut the guard at the brake bridge and use two L-shaped brackets to hold the ends of the guard at the brake?

Thats something I've thought about, but I'm going to try to get a mudguard I can use first.

Take it to an LBS, get them to take the pain?

I don't think the LBS would be impressed if I turned up with a brand new internet brought bike. Theres not enough clearance under the brake bridge, I've fitted the mudguard twice and no amount of fettling will get the rain blades off the tyre, I need to find a different mudguard that will either go over the brake bridge or have a gap where the back brake is, or is in two halves.

Well you'd be paying them for the mudguards and labour. I don't see what the issue is.

Think laterally...save them for the summer and buy some 23mm wet weather tyres for the winter.

Job done.

I've never used the stock tyres that came with the bike, as soon as it arrived I swapped them for racelite hard cases. It'll cost me more to buy new tyres than buy another set of mudguards, I've found some and I'm just waiting for pay day.

I went with the Giant Defy mudguards in the end, the rear is a bit short at the front, I got round that by cable tying the mudguard to the seat tube, the front went on nice and straight forward, they fit close ,look good and don't rattle much.
