Mudguards

i have the giant defy 4 2013 model - what mudguards will fit, going to use it as the year round commuter. so want to fit guards and rack perminently.

The Giant ones. Possibly Cruds

Does it have rack lugs? My 2012 Avail has a fixed Topeak rack no issue. Cruds which rub (on 25mm tyres). I'd go the Giant guards which are apparently a bitch to fit

probably Giants own to be fair however if you can try sks or something you may get away

Raceblades and Chromoplastics would go nowhere near fitting the avail. The Giant frames did not change 2012 to 2013

been going through the show us your giant thread and have seen quite a few defy's with cruds fitted, so i'm going to go with those and 25mm durano plus tyres.

also going with rack and altura dryline rack bag.


unless someone has a better plan

The cruds will almost certainly rub on 25mm tyres. Duranos should survive though. Just keep checking the little screws on the cruds. I am two down at the mo and spares aren't that easy to get

just a note on the cruds mk2. i did 350 miles last week across scotland and found that in a headwind they rattle more than i guess the ones with metal arms would. even with small the brush pads they supply as spacers to hold the guard off the rims.

I use the Giant mudguards but they are pretty tight. 23mm tyres preferable, in my experience.

just fitted the giant specific mudguards (700x30) no problems with rubbing at all with 25mm schwalbe duranno plus tyres.

Good to know, I might get Giant store to fit these in place of the cruds which are annoying me no end (not as much as the p-fairy bitch who visited tonight on my way home )

They took me approx 15mins to fit vickster and i got them from tredz for 22.99
