I know some use a spacer around the caliper but can you still get stays that are specifically designed to fit to the luggage bolts on the middle of forks such as found on a Genesis Croix de Fer or modern touring bikes? I've done a few internet searches but have come up blank, perhaps they have a specific name I dont know?
You can see the forks on this image:

My current SKS guards have a spacer but I get the feeling the stays are too short with it in as they've been grinding a groove into the Hayes caliper. Its also bloody annoying to hear it rattle on rough roads.
