I know some use a spacer around the caliper but can you still get stays that are specifically designed to fit to the luggage bolts on the middle of forks such as found on a Genesis Croix de Fer or modern touring bikes? I've done a few internet searches but have come up blank, perhaps they have a specific name I dont know?

You can see the forks on this image:

My current SKS guards have a spacer but I get the feeling the stays are too short with it in as they've been grinding a groove into the Hayes caliper. Its also bloody annoying to hear it rattle on rough roads.

Didn't use a spacer on mine, I just put a bend in the stays so it goes around the brake caliper. To be asphetically pleasing I put the same bend in the other side so it looks like it was designed like that. No rattling on mine.

The caliper is quite big though, not sure I can bend it that much. I might take it apart at the week end and measure it all out

The only photo I could find was on my tweeter feed (someone else had asked about SKS mudguards), hopefully I've sent it via twitter. If not some random person is wondering why there's a photo of a front wheel and mudguard on their feed!

More importantly though, is that the new Croix De Fer colour??

Ewwww, give me the black or white version any day!!
Thats one of them. The touring version is quite a nice metallic red though

I think I'll be playing around with it on the weekend to see how I can alter mine. Tempted to buy some more rods and bend my own.
