One of those little niggles! I am looking for some little nuts and bolts.

What size is the threaded hole that take the nut that attaches mudguard stays to the frame? The hole measures at 5.5mm and I have a small, worn bolt that is a slightly loose fit.

The bolt is 5.44mm across the thread ( 7/32 inch) and 8.7mm (11/32 inch) acress the flats. Can anyone out there with a nice old fashioned non metric brain tell me what I am looking for?

I believe 7/32" x 26 tpi from what I read somewhere. I was thankfully able to re-use the mudguard bolts on my Rudge. Good luck finding some of those.

Personally, if you have room for a nut, I would use 3/16" or 5mm bolts with a nut on the inside, or drill it out and re-tap it as the next size up in an easy to find thread standard.

Depends on a few things but it may still be a metric bolt [ie M5] however if it's worn the hole may be worn too in which case drilling and a nut and bolt or drilling and tapping [pos M6] may well be the easy option. If you want to try for a replacement look up your nearest model engineering shop.

Thanks guys. My local engineers loaned me an M5 tap and supplied me with some nice M5 ss screws. Job done!
