Sadly the mud flap part of my crud road race mudguards flew off during the ride yesterday and recovery efforts were unsuccesful :sad:. So I'm looking for tips on what materials to use to build a suitable replacement flap type thing and how to replace it...

Ta.

Send crud an email. They will very likely send you a new one free of charge!

Is this the additional bit you screw on the end that comes with the crud guard or something you had contrived out of a Weetabix box and stuck on with Super Glue?

If it's the bit on the end - as Tollers said. It worked for me. Nice lady who works there practically sent me a whole guard.

excellent, that is the bit I mean, with the little sticker that looks like a barcode

i think it's a bit of a design fault tho as it has fallen off whilst on the turbo as well...

Yup it is a bit of a design fault. I think the little nut shakes loose pretty easily, but if for the first few weeks you tighten it every time you ride, then it holds pretty firm. If not, a bit of threadlock can't hurt.
