Mudguard bolt stuck

Decided to put my mudguards on the Giant yesterday but I've hit a problem. I can't remove the bolt for the rear mudguard from the seat tube, when I turn it it's turning the receiver (the bit that gets screwed into in the frame). I gave it a good squirt of wd40 and left it over night and today I've cut away the rubber washer to see if I could get hold of the receiver with pliers and then unscrew it, but no luck. Any hints or tips please?

Oh, you poor devil. I have previously posted a few Giant Mudguard posts of my own where they have either broken or got stuck.

I am amazed that the receiver bit is coming out. What a pain.

Hacksaw the head of the but off and then push the whole lot back into the frame (should then be able to get it out through the seat tube).

Re-rivet the mount and fit mudguard.

Thank you for the sympathy . From those threads I may have been lucky with my mudguards so far, this will be their 3rd winter, if I can get the bloody things fitted.

Will it push back in OK considering the flange on it, which I assume is to stop it getting pushed back in?

Is the 'receiver' a rivnut? Find a local workshop that works with these fasteners and see if they can help. If they could remove and fit a new one, you'd be good to go apart from painting it, and removing the old one to stop the rattle. And next time put some grease on the threads.
