Hi all,

I want to get some guards just can't see what to get.

Bike is a Norco Search, with discs, using 35mm tyres but has plenty of clearance in forks.

Are there any guards that will work with just a bridge clip and no stays?

Cheers

Why does it have to be no stays :-/

I use Longboards and Chromoplastics. All use stays. There are more roadie type guards that can be attached to the seatstays but I have no experience of them. Stays are more sturdy for guards that will be left on permanently. Gez

Thanks for the replies and sorry but I've just seen a post by Graham (Tenacious Sloth), fitting SKS Mudguards to CAADX -
didn't realize I had 2 small holes on the inside of the front forks :banghead:
Gez, I probably will keep them on long term so with the stay holes available I've got more choice.

Cheers

I have a set of SKS commuter guards on my Norco Threshold A2 with a bridge on rear and a long bolt used for the front to substitute for lack of caliper brake as it is disc.

Works a treat but suffers from slight toe overlap.

I have SKS chromoplastics with stays...

I was at first unconvinced and planned on taking them on and off, but on a utility bike or commuter they are an absolute boon.

I have only taken them off to clean!

You can get guards that have stays that clip on to the frame with rubber/silicone bands.

If the holes are in the middle bottom of the fork, they aren't for stays. Stays attach to a threaded lug on the dropout (where the wheel is fixed). The holes on the inside of the fork are used during building of the fork to leg gasses escape during welding.
