Much difference between 22c and 23c road tyres?

I have just bought some 22c road tyres by mistake. I was going to buy my standard 23c width tyres and noticed some that were going a bit cheaper. So pressed pay and only realized when they arrived today that I had ordered the 22c ones.

So is there any difference between the two? eg performance ect..

Opps I meant 20c not 22c doh.....

Sorry

A 'theoretical' 1mm difference in profile and a 'practical' zero noticeable difference in ride quality - don't worry about it..

it depends on the tyre, but it might be tougher to get on the wheel. And you should check the pressure more frequently, and just make sure that it's up to the maximum.

Interesting to see this post, as I was wondering the same things about 23mm and 24mm tyres. A new bike I was looking at came with 24's, and I was wondering if they were worth changing if I got it.

I recently bought some Continental Grand Prix 24mm: according to the blurb they offer the speed of a 23 with the comfort of a 25...

I only bought them because they were on offer, but I have to say they ride better than the 23mm on my other bike. On the other hand the 23mm tyres are not of the same quality as the Contis.

If anything I am a little quicker on the 24mm pair, but this could be I have more confidence in them or the greater comfort lets me push harder: who knows?

I really doubt anyone could tell the difference between tyres 1mm different in a blind test and I certainly wouldn't change them as a matter of course.

20's are great for flat tarmacked roads - but a bit uncomfy on chipped surfaces if you have them pumped up really high.

Pop them on and I'll bet they really measure nearer 22mm.

Ty, the Continental GPs were exactly the tyre that was on the bike too!
