I don't know if these are still available, but years ago I used Specialised Fat Boys.

I think they were 1.5's, but they were still fast as they were totally slick.

Edit: Can't find the fat boys on Wiggle, but these are good as a road bike tyre -

I've got them on my winter bike and the're spot on.

My bike came with the Contis fitted but in a 1.6 size. Plenty fast but not confidence inspiring in the wet. They do come with some sort of puncture proof guarantee though, I think.

Specialized All Conditions Pro's are available in 26 x 1.0, they are similar to the Fat Boys, but a bit more sophisticated, though more expensive (more tpi, dual rubber compound, "flak jacket" puncture protection, aramid (kevlar) bead, i.e folders). I have found them to be brilliant.

I gave up on these after 4 months, plenty of punctures, even though they carry a 1 year puncture guarantee.
