OK - need to come up with a new front wheel for a 6 year old Specialised Rockhopper (V brakes not disc).

Don't have a large amount of money available and don't really want to spend more than £50 if I can help it - rather not because I have had to spend £25 to sort a brake issue out which was the cause of the rim failure and the bike only cost be £100 just before Christmas.

I seem to have it down to this wheel http://www.bike-discount.de/shop/k733/a46262/deore-zac-19-front-black.html at £31.91
or this wheel http://www.bike-discount.de/shop/k733/a91599/deore-mavic-xm-317-frontwheel-26-black.html at £44.41

to be honest, I don't really know much about rims or front hubs and have no idea if either a suitable.

Does anyone have any thoughts please? We will be going off road - only up to graded red routes nothing more (I can't handle much more than that).

Is there anything else I need to consider - taken brake styles into account...
thanks

Why not just replace the rim? Last time I replaced a rim....Mavic xc717 (iirc)...it was only £17

No, I put the rims side by side and transfer the spoke and nipple over one at a time...the old rim won't be free until the last spoke is moved.

Have I explained that well enough? Then I get it somewhere near true and pay the lbs a fiver for final truing

probably - but given you met my OH, I dismantelled the rim to prevent him using the bike... now have a pile of spokes (incomplete) nipples (all) and a hub...

Here for rides.
either of them will be fine. your nearest mtb-focussed lbs may have something cheaper hanging from the ceiling though.
