Sounds a lot like this MP is trying to make a name for himself when he could just campaign a little more proactively over existing laws being actually used. There is also massive disparity between Howard's case in 08 where he was fined £2200 for the death of a pedestrian, many drivers receicing an average fine of £300 and a token ban, if that, upon conviction.

ignore it. It's ten minutes of looking for a bit of local appreciation, and, to be fair, probably a response to local outrage.

Trouble is I think d*ckhead ideas need to be exposed as the waste of public time and money, lets people know where their MPs real responsibilities efforts lay.

So this MP wants to introduce a completely unnecessary bill to target something so unbelievably dangerous that only 2-3 people are killed annually?
What a waste of everyone's time.

ever heard of part P of the Building Regulations? That started with a round of golf....

but, yes, this is even less significant than that, and the ten minute rule bill process, now widely abused, is a means by which an MP who has been told to go away and forget it can have their time in the local papers.

What's really scary is we're paying these people to run a country that's in the shoot economically has some tricky foreign policy stuff to figure-out and yet they still seem to be given latitude to indulge in this kind of nonsense. It beggars belief really. If the rebels in Libya saw this they'd cry in their beards and welcome Gadaffi again with open arms.
