Hi,

This may be an incredibly basic question but i want a speedometer that i can mount on the stem of my bike. What is the cheapest speedometer that i'll be able to mount on my bikes stem, i don't need one with many features as i have my Garmin 405, i just want something to quickly glance at.

I have a cateye wireless micro attached to the top tube of my tourer - stem angle is too steep in mine - and fits well. To be honest, despite the fact it used to be attach to the 'bars of my mountain bike, I couldn't work out how to fit it to the bars this time 'round!!

Cateye do several that can fit in this way. Cateye Enduro 8 can be had for around £20 if you shop online. It has all the main features, is waterproof and has a nice strurdy cable to link up with the sensor.

My £5 Aldi bike computer could be fitted on both bars and stems - it's not as straightforward as swapping a Garmin mount - to convert the Aldi mount to stem fitment you had to undo 2 small screws, rotate the mount through 90 degrees and screw it up again. Lidl's bike week starts Thursday I'd be surprised if their computer mounts didn't work much the same way.

I've got a Cateye velo8 on my stem. To fit it you just need to cross over the two zip-ties to form and x-shape underneath (although I added a small about of black tape to make sure)

My one of these mounts to stem or bars using zip ties.. http://www.wiggle.co.uk/vdo-a08-plus-8-function-wireless-cycle-computer/

but a Smart polaris front light interferes with it
