if you mean "will chain lube lubricate a chain?" then the answer is going to have to be a resounding "yes".

I realise chain lube will lube a chain. I just wondered if there was anything in motorcycle chain lube that might harm the cycle chain. If not then I might as well use what I have.

Depends on type. Most m/cycle chain lube is designed to spray on and then stay on, even at 100 + mph and under far greater stresses than bicycle chains ever achieve. Worth a try but you may find it a bit "sticky", spoiling gear changes and causing the chain to stick to the sprockets.

I used up a can of motorcycle spray grease on my commuter. It was a tad sticky!, quite tenacious but it attracted dirt and grit very nicely. Worked well enough at lubing, but I prefer a lighter lube.

As said, likely to be stickier than bike stuff, which will cause wear issues over the longer term, but fine for emergency use.

However, o-rings (& rings with various other letters) mean that doing the opposite wouldn't be a goods thing.

I dunno. I just used to bung bog standard semi-synth Rock-Oil in the Scottoiler of my CBR. Hardly ever adjusted the chain over 25,000 miles. OK so most of it got flung onto the back wheel, but the 530 X-Ring chain stayed lovely and shiny! Though it would've been expensive if I were to have filled the reservoir with Finish Line Ceramic bicycle lube

At a push, I'd use a mix of engine and gear oil on my bicycle chains, but would steer clear of motorbike chain lube, because as others as said, it's too sticky and will attract too much dirt. Stop being a tight-wad and just buy some chuffin' chain lube (Finish-Line, Pedros, whoever) meant for bicycles! A little bottle lasts for ages.

I used motorbike dry lube for a bit and it works but I found there was quite a bit of chain noise (probably the stickiness mentioned)
