What was odd, was that the other podium girl happily did a "bise" each cheek French-style peck kiss thingy, which is what's polite in some European cultures.

yeah, I saw this live and it was obvious she'd been called for the Lion toy just as Nibo leant forward.... she could have gone through the motions though, so which one of them created the faux pas ? Her or him ?

Watching the full thing it was just mistimed, she went to get the toy as he went for the kiss, Nibali not being a sprinter needs to work on his timing.
