I was out for my regular 50km ride this morning and my route took me along the south fence of the Al Areen Wildlife park here in Bahrain. As I cruising along at about 40kph I caught a movement out of the corner of my eye, an ostrich was happily loping along about 5 meters away keeping up a steady and relaxed 40kph alongside me for about 1km until the road turned away from the fence! Can't imagine that happening in my native Yorkshire when I retire.....

Cheers, Rewind

Although the cost of living is high it remains popular.

Nice!

I've seen some ostriches next to the road in Scarborough South Africa

I spotted some llamas in the Ribble valley once, if that's any use to you?

Awesome, I would love to try on some Ostrich vs cyclist sprint training!

Certainly beats watching videos on the turbo!

It would be a powerful incentive to train hard, especially if it was on the same side of the fence as the rider.......

I used to see Ostrich's just outside Clough, Co Down, but I don't think I've seen then there for a few years now. They never ran along side - on the other hand the field wasn't big enough for them to have got up that kind of speed.

There used to an ostrich farm between Market Weighton and York but I have not been that way for many years now.

Last autumn I followed a badger for about 600m while I was riding my trike to work. It was the first I had seen in the wild and I am 52.

Almost every morning I see foxes, deer, rabbits or mink.

There is lots of wild life in Denmark.

Ironically I went past Clough when I was over there for xmas (28th Dec)!

Didn't see any Ostrich's either.
