Are you riding with a head tilted up position when on the hoods? I too have neck issues, well did. I have wear which caused a pinch nerve in my neck and I lost a lot of feeling in my right arm for a year.

I found riding with my neck straight and looking through my eyebrows most of the time removes my neck issues. In fact riding a more upright bike is a little more uncomfortable because of the angle my neck is, it must be just in the wrong place.

Everyone is different and a certain neck/head angle might alleviate your discomfort.

The stem on the Kalahri might be a solution, its adjustable

An adjustable stem might help, but also give yourself time for your neck muscles to become accustomed to the position. I find at the start of every year, after a lower mileage during the winter, that I get pain in my neck etc. It takes me a couple of months to regain pain free cycling.

Do you wear glasses? This makes it necessary to raise your head higher as well.

I have the same problem. I eventually decided on a Giant Rapid but even then I get bad neck pain after 30+ miles.
TBH I am thinking of swapping to a flat bar as the Cannondale Quick is good for road work but is much more 'upright' (i have only tried it in the shop though).
