Sorry!! I know i am asking alot of questions but could anybody help with these 4 queries?
1) have the Giant OCR range been replaced? If so when and what with?
2) what is the difference between a racing bike and a triathalon bike and why?
3)what is a tri-bar and a tt bike?
4)what does ctc stand for??

Cheers
Mike

1) defy maybe?
2) Aerodynamics, position. Uncomfortable but not compromising speed.
3) time trial bike, sort of overlaps the above. Tri bars allow you to rest elbows in middle.
4) cyclists touring club (i think)

4) CTC do 3rd party insurance with membership which is people bang on about it. Depending on your likes in cycling they do many an organised ride too.

Not too sure about the OCR being replaced but I did a search on their website and only the 2008 model come up. so perhaps it has been. But I have just bought an ocr off a mate as my first road bike and I must say it seems pretty good so far!

So the OCR has been replaced by the defy??
Or are they the same thing??
And which is more comfortable a triathalon bike or a race bike, and what is the difference between these and a time trial bike??
Sorry again,
cheers,
Mike

Defy replaced the OCR

and the Defy's are still current (with yearly revisions), the OCR was discontinued a couple of years ago. Only real change was to the frame, but the lbs mechanic says the ride changed enormously for the better, not that it was bad to start with.

To be fair I am a complete novice when it comes to raod bikes but having ridden the OCR a couple of times since I got it it seems pretty decent. although I bought it off my mate and he changed some of the componentry, from what I can see its a good bike. I might be wrong tho!

Tri/TT bikes are not like road bikes - the geometry is different and designed to be ridden in an aero tuck. The main differences being that the seat tube angle is steeper*; the chainstay length is shorter, putting the saddle further over the back wheel; and the obvious tri bars on the front.
I find that the steering is more twitchy when sitting up on my TT bike.

*Pure triathlon bikes differ from TT bikes in that geometry is not confined to UCI regulations so seat angles are even greater and the nose of the saddle is directly above the bottom bracket. This helps triathletes in the run off the bike as the transition from using cycling muscles to running muscles is reduced.
