Has anyone does this 200k aaa3 perm? Is it do-able on a compact chainset? advice or tips welcome

I've done it. Well when I say that I mean I've ridden the route but didn't submit my card as I took it dead easy because of an injury and lack of fitness last year. I plan to do it 'proper' sometime this summer possibly in the opposite direction. It is a simply gorgeous ride on the right day, see below. I picked the wrong day.
Is it do-able on a compact? If you are fit enough yes. I used an mtb chainset/cassette equipped tourer and cursed and grunted my way around.
For the bits of the day that were like an English winter it was lovely. For the bits of the day that were like a Welsh summer it was awful. Archetypal four-seasons-in-a-day Mid-Wales weather and the wind in your face no matter which way you headed!
