Monsal Trail

Starting to look forward now to our first holiday of 2014 which will be in the Peak District.

Is the Monsal Trail suitable for a road bike with 25mm tyres?

Yes it is, barring perhaps the proper start ( a mile or so) at the south iirc.

I cycled the Monsal trail on a mtb hired from Hassop bike hire centre, the trail has a surface mostly made of crushed stone and sand which has been compressed to form a hard surface, it may be a little rough on a road bike but certainly not challenging or difficult to ride. There are some sections that are a bit muddy between Hassop and Monsal Head.

Its a nice trail... but watch out for the red socks!!!
