As most of you know by now, I enjoy the challenge of putting high-spec components on Bromptons.... my next target is to try and fit out a racing bike (with drops) that is also a Brommie... one thing I would like to do is to have the 8-speed Sturmey rear hub being shifted by a Campagnolo ergo brifter.... dunno what sort yet, but 8-speed means it won't be new :-).... There are two obstacles to this, one is tha tthe full range pull of the shifter doesn't match the hub, easily solved by having an amplifier lever to increase the total pull. The other bits is the indexing of the shifts... the Sturmey has uneven shift pulls, I rather suspect that all derailleurs have even shift pulls gear-to-gear. I have machine tools, looking at some of the Campagnolo parts lists some of the indexing rings are pretty simple to fabricate, does anyone think they would work with uneven indexing if I just space the index teeth to match what the Sturmey needs (via the amplifier)?... Has anyone made a Campagnolo brifter work with a hub gear before?

The front shifter is micro indexed so can stick in a variety of positions not limitted to even clicks. I flogged by Mirage 8 years ago because cassettes were a special item

I'm currently poring over the Campy parts diagrams, I think I understand how a lot of them work, there seems to be several basic sets.... interesting to note how many bits are common between any given eras Records and the lower spec units though, quite a lot of the parts lists are common :-)
