got a new fone htc desire....anyone recommend a pouch or something to protect from water damage when commuting

Get a small waterproof stuff sack. One with a roll top. Keep wallet and other bibs and bobs in it too.

Stick it in your pannier , mine never gets wet or bothers me when i am riding

Don't worry about water mine gets very wet and is fine

If you have an accident? My local club asks everyone to have an ICE number + leave the phone unlocked.

The ICE system is deeply flawed for a number of reasons. You are better off with an ID bracelet, dogtag or similar

Especially as no-one call call you on a dog tag!

Touch wood my mobile phone has been all right placed in a polythene bag in my back pocket and gilet or jacket on top of that in bad weather. In really bad weather I cycle in my Endura jacket and its pockets are waterproof.
