I just use my Mac laptop by connecting it via Bluetooth to my mobile phone. So I browse online via my phone's 3G connection. This means I don't have to have an extra USB device or pay for an extra service. I don't know if it's faster to get a USB 'mobile broadband' adapter but I get on fine like this to do work and send out files up to about 10mb.

Check the coverage carefully for locations where you expect to use it. After that it comes down to the network's allowance/acceptable use policy. Always check the small print because some mobile carriers block certain ports if they perceive them to conflict with their existing business model. Not a problem if you just want to browse the web, but a potential show stopper if you use Skype/VOIP.

Currently I used 3 and like the services they offer, but their customer service is a bit

Wot Tom said...

My phone (Samsung Tocco) supports data speeds up to 7.2Mbs (not that my network does, but hey-ho). So I just pay for the web bolt-on from O2 for £7.50 per month and use my phone as a bluetooth modem. It's technically against the terms of service to do this, but it's my understanding that it's pretty impossible to detect if all you're doing is browsing the web.
