Mixing cleats and pedals

I have a pair of Shimano Ultegra 6700 SPL-SL carbon pedals and cleats

I'm looking to buy a cheap training bike for using in the dark evenings as I don't want to risk damaging the Aeroad on potholed roads

So rather than keep swapping the pedals over I want to put some pedals on it, but not at ^^^^^^^ price!

If i put some Shimano R540 SPD-SLs on will my existing cleats still fit these

yep, they both are the same type of pedal
