Mismatched tyre sizes question.

Hi,
I put a pair of 700x25 Continental GP4000 on just before Christmas and I`ve done about 1300 miles on them. The rear one picked up a puncture this morning and the tyre is fairly badly cut up in several places around the tread area.
On reflection I wish I had put 700x23 on when I changed, having read several posts since.
Would it be ok just to replace the rear tyre but with a 700x23 and then replace the front with the same size as and when it wears or should I replace both now?

There's no reason you can't do what you plan. If it was me though, I'd put the 25 on the back for the bit of extra comfort and put the new 23 on the front. Then when the rear wears out replace it with another 23.
