Miscount?

I'm in the process of changing my chain (turning out to be the bane of my life!). Although the chain is still on the bike, I've counted the links and it's 106. The chain I bought was 116. Have I completely miscounted or is it normal to have to take some links off a new chain (the bike is a 54cm Triban 3 if that helps)?

Thanks

Lay the new chain alongside the old one to be sure that you are removing the correct number of links. 106 seems like a very low number - I generally only have to remove 2 or 4 links.

Yup, I agree. Mind you, I think most of my chains have been 114 links in the past so that's one extra link already.

+1 except that with a recumbent it is 2 1/2 chains, so a few zip ties along the length keep things aligned, or hanging them from the roof
