Hi,

I've just started cycling again after a gap of quite a few years. Too long......

I bought a Trek 7.5 off a friend and my first task was to find a rear-view mirror for it. After all that car-driving I feel lost without one.

So, I took the mirror off my old bike (a Mirrycle) only to find the inside of the Trek handlebar is a funny shape and it is impossible to insert the mirror.

I see that Mirrycle do a LTD mirror for Trek handlebars but I can't find one anywhere in the UK. Do I import one or is there an alternative?

Not sure what your bars are like but I have a Zefal Spy on my butterfly trekking bars, which straps around the bar.
On my road & mtb I have the Zefal Spin which goes in the end.
(Hope I got those the right way round).

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Go to amazon. There are plenty of mirrors for bikes there. Any shape and size and style, and they are good value. Amazon is the best place to go to.

Thanks.

The Mirrycle mirror is so widely recommended I'd like to get hold of one if possible. Trek uses Bontrager Isozone handlebars. I'm surprised that the LTD model isn't available in the UK. There must be enough Trek bikes about!

You can buy them on amazon as well.

  1. I have mirrors on all my bikes, bad neck, and swear by the Zefal range.

With flat bars I would highly recommend a zefal dooback or if there's a bit of rake on the bar, consider a zefal spin as its smaller but has absolutely no limitations in positioning to give clear rearward visibility. The dooback has some leeway, enough for straight & cowhorns but not moustaches & not the total flexibility of the spin or spy.

+lots to Geoff above re the zefal spy for butterfly bars or popping on the top of a bar end extension, or even round the hoods on a drop bar.

Though for drops I have deviated from zefal to Sprintech bar end mirrors.

dooback, spin & sprintech plug into the bars directly leaving no awkward outer fixings, solid plastic clips/velcro straps nor needing to be mounted on stalks that introduce vibration to the image seen. The spy is equally vibration free and very easy to fit/remove & takes up no space in a pocket.

i've had falls and knocks with each type of mirror and all have survived scuffed but still totally functional

I've searched high and low for the LTD model which fits the Isozone handlebars but no joy (even Amazon)

Thanks for the alternatives. I'll investigate further........
