Basically a sliding layer that should decrease rotational injury.
It is also interesting that the Companies taking this up are also going more along the skateboard designs with smooth surfaces and extended cover for the back of the skull.
However some reviewers have stated that they can feel the helmet move when on the head and dislike this.
