Hi
I've just bought the Mio Cyclo 505 gps unit but have hit a couple of problems. The unit itself is nicely constructed although the mains charge that came with it is rubbish and I've replaced it with another one I had in the house. The stem mount looks firm but I'll see how that goes.
The problem I'm getting is with mioshare. I am running windows 8.1 and set up the mioshare unit which recognises the mio fairly quickly and then gives a new updates box showing that car map, bike map and software need updating. Click on update and 3 hours later it seems to have done the downloading and 'greys out' the box, after a while the box disappears but does not seem to have done anything because when I connect again it starts over with the new updates box! - Any idea what is happening or why it doesn't seem to work?
Update: Finally got the mio updated. The problem seems to be that the usb connection in the mio switches itself off after a couple of hours so a big update downloads and then finds that the mio is no longer available. In the end I connected to a different computer (a much lower spec laptop on a faster connection) and this managed to complete the update in 3 attempts doing one section at a time. I am now hoping that the next major update is issued piecemeal so that I have a chance to upgrade without taking 3 days of cursing over it. In spite of all this the unit itself has some great functions and I'm looking forward to taking it on a few long rides to give it a full test
