Hi,
Just bought a Mio Cyclo 500 2nd hand off ebay. Been considering getting one for about 6-12months but was waiting for a good deal. Used it today for the first time, it worked perfectly showing turn alerts when needed. I was following a route I had downloaded and recording the ride too.
The only thing I'm a bit disappointed about is battery life. In the 2hrs,38mins it had used about 50% battery power. This gives a total potential run time of about 5hrs. I was expecting it to be lower than a new unit but not this low.
Screen brightness was set at about 25% and it wasn't connected to any extra sensors. I suspect that using navigation AND recording will use more power than just recording mode. most of my rides will be less than 4 hrs so it should be abig problem, but I plan on doing occasional century rides so would need it to last 7-8hrs.
So my question is, what do other owners of this device (or the 505) get from their battery when navigating and recording a ride?. Also, I have read about some owners using external usb battery packs to extend the life of their units, can anyone recommend one that they know works well?.
