You know its cold when the water in your drinks bottle freezes. It was -8 when we set off yesterday for 23 hilly miles in Gloucestershire. I purchased a good quality wind stopper and winter coat over Xmas and so far have been out pretty much every weekend this year including a 70 mile Audax. The only slight problem yesterday especially on the hills (one of which is a real climb) was inhaling the cold air. Other than that it was great to be out.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Spent 2 hours digging the drive , roads are still bad around here .

A buff over the mouth helps with the cold air, although it's hard to keep the mouth covered when gasping up a steep climb!

Its possible to give yourself a very nasty form of bronchitis by inhaling to deep in sub zero temperatures, many years ago, before turbo trainers, I used to train on the road in the early morning before work, one winter I gave myself a nasty case of bronchitis which needed a trip to the doctors and medication to clear it up. As blue said cover your mouth and nose if you're going to work hard in sub zero temperatures.
