With a racing bike without mudguards you will get wet with the spray from the road. Is there a mudguard ( or something else ) that can be fitted to the rear of the bike so as to shield the rider from the spray whilst not adding much to the weight of the bike?

Just fitted Crudguard Roadracer MK2s to my road bike, very light, full coverage ad work really really well.
Only work with 23c tyres to give clearance. There's a thread here on them.

Mine shown here.

Otherwise Race-Blades are the next best thing but they don't extend under the brakes so less coverge, but easier to get on and off quickly.

Get proper guards for winter, why worry about weight. Otherwise MTFU and just don't let being a bit wet worry you, be tough!

Dont forget a decent rear guard to keep your mates dry.........nothing worse than a face full of muddy water!

I'm not loving the crudguards, I've got them fitted to one of my bikes, they do keep you dry, but they also seem to require constant attention, which is either tiring and highly irritating or a welcome break from cycling, depening on your point of view!
