Hi there,

I need your opinons on the above......

I have got a Spesh Tricross that has a slight amount of front break judder. At the moment it has cantis on it, I went into my LBS today and they offered to get me a new brake hanger which will cure the problem... and this is how the new model tricrosses come, with the canti's and the new brake hanger.

BUT I rang the specialized customer services and they have offered to replace my brakes with mini v's for free under warrentee. He told me they didn't have any stock of the new break hanger that comes on the new tricross but they could change the whole brake to mini v.

The actual hanger my LBS said they can get for £3 so its either keep my cantis and pay £3 or get new mini V's for free......What would you do??

Are the mini vs actually better, if they were better wouldn't specialized just put them on the new model bikes instead of this new hanger??

Thanks in advance

Forget the mini-V's, they need to be adjusted really close to the rim to work, and even then it’s a bit of a lash up. The Spec Tricross brake judder is well catalogued, and Spec are being nothing short of negligent continuing to sell bikes with it. In fact it’s a problem with carbon fork/canti brakes generally. Solve it with an fork hanger - KF Kona Design Front Hanger - picture here (shown upside down). Fitted it on my Van Nich Amazon and it solved the problem (also bumped the brakes up to Tektro 720's which are very good). Fit an inline cable adjuster as well so you can drop the front wheel out easily.
