mini laptop thingy

Is there such a thing as a mini word processor type thing? I do a lot or research in librarys/archives and often want to jot down bits of info. Currently I do this on bits of paper with the inevitable results:wacko:

I don't really want anything with phones/cameras/televisions etc on, I just want to be able to write small documents and then transfer them to my pc later.

A Netbook?

Cut down laptop style computers about the size of an Octavo paperback. Most have wireless connectivity & usb ports etc and little else. Argos were doing an Acer one for £150 recently, as I recall.

An Acer Aspire One is what I have. I am not in any way a techie, but the Linux operating system is great, and it does all the WP etc you need, plus the files are 100% compatible with Microsoft. The Asus EEE is similar but the keyboard a bit tiny

I have the Aspire One too. It's great, but I can imagine typing would be a pain if you have big hands. The Eee PC is worse in this regard though - in fact in most ways. The original but not the best.

There is a new 10" Aspire out right about now, which is still a lot smaller (and cheaper) than a normal laptop, but has a slightly bigger screen and keyboard.

We have 15x Samsung NP - NC10 out on site. Users are reporting 7 hours + on the battery which is commendable. The only negative observation is the keyboard can be difficult to get used to, but when asked users who complained declined to return their net book for a full size replacement.

I have the lowest capacity battery for my Aspire One. I have had it on for two hours now, during which time I have messed around with photos, uploaded stuff to my blog, and browsed. The battery is now about 1/3 full. You can get much higher capacity batteries, but I can't see that I would ever need them.
