My lbs told me to get some LHM fluid for citroens, to use in my hydraulic brakes when I went in for mineral oil. Is this right anyone else use it?

I would guess so if your brakes are Shimano, which use mineral oil.

Other types [e.g. Avid] use dot 4 or 5.1 'brake fluid'.

I've had that recommendation too. Don't use the DOT stuff whatever you do, it ruins the seals.

yes, indeed, I have the 1 l tube from CRC (do not waste money on magura blood as Shimano is compatible and much cheaper.

1 l will last me years and years, unlike DOT fluid with is hygroscopic (abosrbs water), you can store the mineral oil indefinietely.

I also had this suggested before, apparently the Citroen mineral oil (I think it is used as clutch fluid) can be got 5L for under a tenner, or a litre for less than a fiver...much cheaper than branded bike stuff for the same product.
