So…… took us a wee while to work this out , we used to buy Aldi milk . However started noticing , the taste has changed . It also was not frothing the same in our coffee machine .

Swapped to Grahams milk , froths properly , no funny tastes ?

Both semi skimmed , Tescos milk very much the same , Asda the same . Funny tasting . Is this the Bovaer additive in action ??

Anyone else noticed ?

As we usually get either Waitrose, Sainsburys or from the Coop and never froth it as we drink our coffee black. So no.

Yep, I buy Asda, Aldi and Iceland milk, occasionally I find a different taste with it, not particually pleasant. I havnt figured if it's one or the other yet but have noticed it a couple times at least.

They have Whole Milk and also Filtered Milk. The filtered is longer lasting but has a few things filtered out...it may be that and one of the filtered things stops it frothing?

This is just a question on the semi skimmed . Defo a recent change ! Thought my frother was broken at first , then happened to swap brands and voila ! Organic versions of the supermarket brands seems to be ok but nothing like Grahams .

remember when milk had a top of cream ? now most is homogenized meaning it is squeezed to burst the fat molecules to give an even texture i think that has changed its taste

I'm certain it is, Arla are the ones behind Bovaar, guess where supermarket milk comes from? we have got a local milkman delivering now, milk seems much nicer, but not as long lasting

I'm no fan of the trial but would be cautious in thinking that it affects the milk. Only a around 30 farms are in the Bovaer trial, Arla collect milk from 100s of farms in the UK. There is no evidence that bovaer is passed through into milk

That might well be what they are saying , might be true might not. Facts are from my perspective something has changed in our local stores , the taste and the fact it doesn’t froth up like it used to ! Since switching to a different brand I don’t get these issues ? However someone in the household bought from Aldi again and guess what , poor frothing and funny after taste . Can’t comment on the full fat stuff , but that’s my view on semis skimmed .

I drink a lot of milk and have done for decades. My experience is that over the years it varies as they get it from different dairies. So it may or may not be. But it’s not definitive without
Knowing for sure.

Bovaer seems to be the more intricate version of anti-vacc and chemtrails. Maybe I am slightly swayed by the Lembit Opik Cheese Conspiracy (non-raclette) meltdown, suggesting that it is nothing more than a climate change-denial attempt to run off with the football to stop everyone playing.

But as you say, until you can make a direct link between Bovaer and Aldi milk that doesn't transfer to your prefered milk supplier, then I remain beyond skeptical.

Can't comment on the taste, but frothing is a result of the fat/protein ratio. You need fat to create the texture through bubbles, and the protein to stabilise them. Coffee shops use whole milk as it has a higher fat content giving a denser and creamier foam. Theoretically something could have been added somewhere along the food chain which is affecting the taste and froth, but it is perhaps more likely to be a reflection of the production methods affecting milk quality (higher degree of pasteurisation for example).

I'm a big drinker of supermarket milk, but regularly buy full fat, lightly pasteurised full fat from two local dairies. The 'fat' content does vary between the two, as does it do in different months depending on the grass. The Welsh dairy is way above the local one out in Cheshire. It's like the old fashioned ones with an inch or two of cream when it settles.
