Middle ring sliping

Hello
I need some help please.
I have a claude butler regent triple, i was having bother with my gear changing so adjusted the gears.
They all work as normal when under no pressure, when under pressure the inner and outer rings work fine. When in the middle ring the gears/chain keep giving way.
I have not touched the front adjustments ( they scare me) , the slipping was happening before i adjusted the gears.
Think thats about it ,thanks for any advice or help you van offer

I'd guess you use the middle ring a lot more than the inner and outer rings, therefore it'll be the first to suffer from worn teeth and will likely need replacing.

It may also be worth replacing the chain and cassette whilst you're at it... but others will likely offer better/more reliable advise on that

I am not very clear what is the problem from your description.
My understanding is that your front has three rings.
You adjusted the rear gears.
Now when the chain is in the middle ring of the front, there is a problem with rear rings or front ring?

Ah sorry not very clear,i think it,s slipping off the front ring. The chain stays on but when i pedal it grinds round the ring, as if it's not seated right. Hope that helps and thanks both for your help

Hmm, in that case, I suggest you adjust the front gears before changing the rings/ cassette or chain.
Interestingly, it is front adjustments which scares me but I have done it with the help of instructional videos. This will be my approach.
Well, you can not make it worse, in the sense that you are not going to break cables or chain rings or cassette. The worse that could happen is none of the gears work properly. In that case, either you spend more time or just take it to the LBS which should not charge you a lot.
So have a look at a youtube video and have a go at it.

Hello
Just an update on my slipping issues as requested. Having watched some youtube clips, and the link @midliferider kindly posted,i tackled the front gears and the gears worked fine.
Middle ring still slipping , but as many of you said it was wear & tear. So the upshot is new chain and cassette and all us well with the world, thankyou all for your input and help.
