Mid 90s Deore xt gear changer cable change help required.

Does anyone help me with guidance on how to change a cable on this gear changer. I presume I need to undo a few screws, but I don't want this to fall apart.

From memory I think you remove the small screws holding the top cover plate and thrn all will be revealed.
Edit: I think on yours there is a small plastic Phillips head screw which you remove near the shift lever. Shift into the smallest cog and the cable will remove through the hole left by the screw plug.

Thanks, this one doesn't have the little screw plug. I removed the top two small screws and as you said all was revealed. So the new cable is now in place.
