Never try and defrost chillis you've frozen either. I once did, and the chilli exploded in seconds. I then made the mistake of breathing in when I opened the microwave door....

The fumes then spread throughout the flat, and my then-wife and I had to go out for a few hours to let it clear as we were coughing and our eyes and noses were streaming.
