Hello

New member here (I've already posted a 'Hello' in the new members thread) and I'm looking at getting something decent to push me back into regular cycling. Was searching all the usual places for second hand machines as they would be better value for me at the moment. I'd prefer a sportive type geometry over pure race as I'm more likely to do 15-20 mile runs just to improve my fitness and keep the weight down. Nudging 48 years old so a bit of comfort is important. I'm 5'10" and 31" inside leg measurement so I reckon 54-56 size frame will be ok. My current frame is a 54" kinesis.

Anyway assuming I don't find a good price Cannondale Synapse or similar I see the Merlin Fuse 105 gets good reviews. Has anyone out there got any experience of one? It's a bit over my budget as I was trying to keep to £700 max

If you can find another £50 the Ribble Gran Fondo is £750 right now . Comfy sportive type bike

Phone them to discuss sizing

Good luck with that, they often get overlooked in favour of Planet X and Ribble. You might find *some*, though. BB
It is a Ribble bike?

I have an ex colleague who had two gran fondos, more than happy as an everyday (long commute) and weekend bike

He killed the first one in a crash (his fault), so got a replacement

I ride a ribble with the same geometry as the Gran Fondo a 525 and I am 6' with a 30" inside leg and my 55cm fits me well
