I'm quite heavy on my bikes, so looking for something tough and durable. I dont want another Hybrid. I was thinking that a Cyclo cross bike might be an option and I saw a Merida CC3 bike at my LBS that I like the look of.

Not heard much of the make, apart for whats on their website.

Not many reviews around but was wondering if anyone has got one and how they were finding it.

They are Taiwanese.

They are the second biggest bike maker in the world. So, whilst you don't see their name on many bikes, they make many bike that you see (wearing other brands names).

So yes, they're good.

I bought a 2010 Merida Cyclocross 3 last September after my last bike got nicked, I've used it over Llandegla MTB course over the blue runs with no problems (taken a few falls and survived no drama's) and did my 1st 100 mile sportive at the beginning of June, I find the bike really quite comfortable and really like the extra brake levers on the top of the bars, ideal when cycling through traffic etc. I've added Shimano clipless pedals and a couple of bottle cages, I paid £650 which I think was a bit of a bargain.

Four years ago I bought a Merida MTB, I'd never heard of the brand before either. Four years on the bike has been fantastic even though it has been well used and abused. When the time comes to replace the MTB I will almost certainly be going for another Merida.
