Hi

I'm a newbie and have recently bought a used Hardrock Pro, I believe a 2008 model, so not new but in ok condition but does need some attention.

I have a bad squeal from the disc brakes and have tried adjusting the pads but to no avail, also when using the rear breaks I feel as if this bike is juddering from the rear, this is the best way I can describe it.
It does need a service but instead of just taking it the local bike shop I was wondering if there was anywhere someone could suggest to me first?
Cheers all
Clive

I know this isn't what you wanted to hear but I took my bike to Bicyclechain (Now near Aldi/B&Q, if you didn't realise they had moved. I didn't) and they sorted out my gears/brakes for £20.

Others may be able to advise better than I can.

Just popped into the Somerset Bike Centre. He's closing down in 2 weeks time and is offering discounts on things. For example: Today I bought some gloves £20 and a bottle £8.99 and he gave them for me for £17 and £7 respectively. So a discount of a fiver which was nice as I wasn't expecting that.

excellent, I might pop in then and see if he has items in stock I can use on my Hardrock Pro, new brakes maybe as my avid BB5's are well squeaky!
I did pop into the Bicyclechain shop and enquire about servicing my bike including brakes (mechanical) and was shocked at their price, £130 plus any non service items, I only paid £150 for the bike a couple of years back.
I am now looking at you tube vids to teach myself bike advanced bike maintenance:smile:

What?! That's ridiculous, they must have tried to sell you the tip top service that they do. When ever I've been in there with something specific it was never that much.

Youtube is very handy for things like that!
