The equipes are alloy whereas the planet x are alloy rimmed with a carbon fairing.

About a year ago i was looking at new wheels with a similar budget and looked at both of these (and a few others) and ended up going for some handbuilts instead. If i'd chosen a set of factory wheels i'd have gone for the shimano RS80 (the 24mm ones) over the equipes and planet x, they get really good reviews.

what you after GB155 ? stiffness for speed or flexible for climbing ? I would choose my wheels based on the ride, cornering, and bike handling looks would be secondary presume the planet x cos of their looks? where as the kisi's cos of their lightness and good reputation? or if you were realling felling flush a set of these mavic carbon R-SYS ^_^

I think my wife might leave me if I spent that much on a pair of wheels. Mmmmmm must resist. :stop: Very nice though.

You don't tell them ! So long as the colour is similar ! Can't say I've done the Aksium to Ksyrium upgrade at all, oh no. That might be why there is a set of Aksiums spare in my garage. Not been spotted though as they blend in with the other spares.

Gaz your difference will be the PX 52's are deep section - they will be a little heavier than the Ksyriums, but have 'some' aero advantage. The Ksyriums will be better in the hills. All this is marginal.

R-SYS SLR's - in matt black - tasty and very light.

Don't give up so easily on the climbing - Big Mig was about your size (6' 2" and 12 st 9 lbs) and he could beat all but the very best specialist climbers in the mountains! (I'm remembering that fact for myself too, only I have 3 stone of lard to get rid of first!)

*Gasp* - he was one of the few 5-time Tour de France winners before your mate Lance came along and set a new record!

He was incredibly fast in the time trials, and was so strong that he could just grind down climbers in the mountains. They could sprint away from him, but he'd reel them back in eventually and they'd just burn themselves out trying to match him. I liked him because he was a big bloke like me (us) but he could still climb.
