Hi shanty. It's more a case of what not to use, which is anything abrasive or intended to polish a shiny frame, or you'll end up with a permanent patchy finish.
Whatever you do, the golden rule is NEVER rub hard with anything.
I have a matt Canyon Aeroad which cost enough that I tend to be a bit precious about it. Even so, I just use Wilko's own brand bike cleaner or some muc-off if its on offer. Failing that a weak solution of car shampoo or washing up liquid works just fine. What ever you use, you should rinse off with fresh water straight after to minimise streaking.
To get an even finish, I sometimes use
Morgans Matt Carbon cleaner. It's not essential, but it removes any residual streaking and makes it all look tidy.
