So I've gone back to running Marathon 25s on my commuter since my new commute into Croydon seems to have flints and glass all over the place (commuters into Central London have no idea how lucky they are!!!). I tend to keep my average speeds up around where they were on 23s Rubinos.

Due to the extra weight on Ms, I assume this means I'm actually putting out more power through the chain. Will this increase the rate of wear on the chain or are chains made of tougher stuff than this and it will in fact be a negligible difference? I just keep thinking of it every time I stand up at lights to set off

I am no boffin but I would say negligible if at all, there are probably other more important considerations, such as the muck on the roads you ride on and how it clings to your bike?

Chain is reasonably clean nowadays (Ianrauk is a bad influence). It's mostly just the typical crud off a fairly well surfaced road.
