There must be special name for this sort of hanging, fine spray rain, the sort that I kinow is going to soak me thriough before I get to the station ( And I have an extra 10 miles and two meetings to do tonight before I get home) , what is it? It's not vertical enough to be drizzle, too heavey but wide spaced to be fog!

Typical , not a mile on the bike last week and it was sunny all the time!

I call it a pain in the ass as you can't be sure how many, if any, waterproof stuff to put on.

In Danish there is no word for drizzle; they use a compound noun and call it 'dust rain', and I think it works well to describe the misery.

It's horrible manky stuff and it tends to be dirty too. It's the same stuff that when you#re driving, it completely coats the windscreen in dirty muck, then you give it a squirt and a few strokes of the windscreen wipers - and almost instantly it goes all opaque and dirty again. I hate that! I hate it even more on a bike - you come home all damp and nasty.

I call it Crud.

Mainly because it coats the road surface enough to make it slick but not enough to get standing water. And the spray off the front tyre hits you like a fine, muck enriched, mist.
