Hi.

Anyone know how you get on the BC track at Tamside and how much it is per session £££££ and if you get discounted being a BC member ?

As the cycling season is now proper kicking in I need to get on form so I popped over to the track for some training a few week back though I could't find it. I was in the right place as it's at the back of the football club aparentley and they had a sign there for Mossley CTR cycle club as it is the base for Mossley CTR
All I found was the football club, track n field and a car park (bonkers)
Checked on the web though not much info and the map says I was in the right place. I did go mid week. Daytime, maybe it was all locked up ?
It would be ideal instead of cycling over to the Cheshire lanes circuits for training as I don't drive and its a bit nearer

Thanks :-D

I had a mooch at the track a few months ago, but It was all locked up.
I could find precious little information at the time but there is a website
up and running now which says there is access for public riding a couple of times a week.

Hi Thanks.

I dont understand why its locked up in the daytime ?????. They spend tons of cash on sporting facilities and you can't get in >>>>>>>

So it has tarmac on it then lol I think its only been open 6 month ? Sounds like most of that 6 month its been locked up.I think its part of BC (British Cycling) though not much info on BC website either

A real waste of facilities ,I'd be quite happy to pay a couple of quid on a Sunday
to put a few miles in,It's not even open at weekends
Seems to cater to schoolkids, the disabled and Mossley crc
But members of the Public get an hour a week!!!!!!!!!!
You can bet the footy pitches are open at weekends tho

If I can remember I will ask one of the guys at work tonight. He Is a cycling fanantic and did mention heading over to the track one evening a few months ago for a club track event. My eldest son also did a bikeability course there over a few days during the easter holidays last year.

Please pass this on to those interested.

Tameside Winter Training Sessions.

As last year we have the Thursday Evening training sessions at the Tameside race circuit in Ashton.

These will run every week from the 2nd of Febuary until the race league starts in May.

(Unless very bad weather)

There will be a group riding out from Wills Wheels shop in Heaton Chapel departing 19.00hrs.

Returning for a steady ride home in the same direction after the session.

(You must have lights on)

The session is approx 70mins.

For those driving out to the Circuit please be ready to ride at 19.45.

These will run in a similar format as last winter, so are open to all levels.

Price is £2.50 per rider which all goes into the Tameside Circuit funds.

Hope to see you all there,

Will.

I did ask the 'fanatic' that mentioned riding at the track and he said it was a group from Wills wheels and that it was not for the faint hearted (high speeds, close proximity and sharp corners. Maybe the above post gives the info you need?

Thanks. I'll meet the guys from Wills as I do a bit with em anyway. I wanted to do some daytime training though on my own though. Seems a bit stupid having a major facility locked up most of the time

Its weird, a mate and I called past one afternoon at about 3pm , totally locked up, as others have said, we'd have paid to jump on for an hour or so , no bother

Probably caught up in council cuts and they can't afford a site manager, or to maintain a building every day. These places need someone on site whenever they are open, leave it unattended and before you know it (as at Hillingdon once) the "travellers" drive in and start messing the place up, or the local moped twits run little races all their own. Frustrating, but better than having the place wrecked or covered in oil.
