I'm visiting family up in manchester next week and I thought this would be a nice ride especially as the route runs pretty close to my mum's house so I can pick it up from there. However like many on here have commented in the past the £20 enrtry fee doesn't go to the charity despite it being advertised as a 'charity ride' but to the organisers. As the only thing provided by the organisers I'll use is the signed route I thought I'd send my £20 directly to Christie's Hospital.

Can anyone who has done this in the past tell me if they got any hassle from the organisers/marshalls etc for not having a number? As I say I won't bother going into the park or any of the feed stations so I can't see me having that much contact with them but forewarned is forearmed as they say.

You are doing EXACTLY the right thing. Good on you for seeing through the for-profit organisation's attempt at sugging people into believing it's all going to charity. It all goes to them minus the trinkets they give to the riders. No food, no water, no medals, nothing.

No problems at all.

I'll probably be riding it, and I wont be paying.
I tend to ride both the Manchester-Blackpool and the Man 100. I figure the entry fee is expensive for 1 event, but reasonable for 2

Cheers guys - I'm looking forward to it. I'll probably leave Gatley at about 7am so if anyone overtakes a green and white Tifosi trundling along give me wave.

As an aside if anyone is interested in doing a 'proper' charity ride look out for the Somerset 100 next May. Your entry fee all goes to the charity and you still get cake at the food stop.

I will be doing the 100km, and i have looked at the web site, and it states quite clearly that the fee they charge is for the running of the event only, and all money raised by the riders goes to the charity that are associated to the ride, so after reading the web site, anyone still thinking that Bike Events are duping participants into thinking the entrance fee goes to the charity are either blind or thick.
A lot of charities do not have the time or the resources to organise large money raising events, so the opportunity to use a company to take on all the logistics, and leave the charity to just administrate the fund raising is favourable.

Does anyone know what route this takes as it passes through Nantwich? I'm hoping to nip down and cheer on a couple of friends who are doing it (and possibly some of you too) but the map on the organisers' website is no help at all.
