I think it is only the 3rd time that a person has achieved this. Apparently horses arn't as good over long distances as they are in the usual distances they race , but it is still a great achievement for a person.

It would be hilarious to watch a bloke racing a horse on a racecourse with all the fences etc to jump over. Let's say a horse that was not trained to race- to even things up a bit. It could be like an 'Eddie the eagle event'. Can you imagine how funny that would be? 😀

Horses are great at ultra distance races. 36km is nothing. I would imagine that the terrain had a lot to do with this.

Yes the terrain is relevant.
It was mentioned somewhere in the article or vid clip that a human gains on the horse when he is going down hill but the horse gains when going up hill.

In this case, Badger was the name of the locomotive
