Failed to stop. There are some despicable people in this world.
The incident may have been a genuine mistake, afterall we are are human. But buggering off and leaving scene is downright inhuman.
In seems to be a trend that is, regrettably, increasing.

If this is becoming more common could it be to do with the growing numbers of drivers without insurance? I would think that someone might not stop at an accident if there was something they wanted to keep quiet. I know that cyclists come in for a lot of stick about not being insured (although increasingly more are nowadays) yet the consequences of riding uninsured are rarely as serious as when a motorist does it.

Ohhhhhhhhhh...........

I cycle across that mini roundabout ALL the time...... any ride I do in south bham / warwickshire, that's the way home I go......
Sheesh....... I have noticed before actually that drivers to take risks there and shoot across (on either road) cos if you were coming along ribblesdale road you wouldn't necess know it's a mini roundabaout.

Wow.......

Hope the guy's ok.....

Ah, the mini-RAB just past the Co-op. I used to go past there often when I was living in Selly Oak. It doesn't have good sight lines and is quite treacherous as a result... which isn't helped much by those who don't bother to slow down, far less stop.

Obviously no insurance and no licence, just don't no how they get away with it, they want stringing up.

We don't know that, though. I suppose the motorist could have panicked. It is, however, high time that hit and run drivers were treated with the appropriate harshness. A mandatory long prison stretch, a lifetime ban and compelling the police to actually take such things seriously would , I think, make a big difference.

Lets hope the cyclist makes a swift recovery.

We do know from the west midlands police website that the accident was at 11.25 pm- wasn't clear from the BBC site- so the cynic in me wonders if the chap had lights, given the high proprtion of cyclists I see round selly oak without them.....
Still hope he's ok though.
